Hi Dirk.

Have a look at this file. Might help: https://we.tl/t-YpYMbk5q6W

hello Esben,
thanks a lot for the quick response.
Based on a tutorial from you, I came up with a similar approach ...
One question though:
is there a special reason why you chose an area light over an emissive?
your approach with the cellphone charger like posted on instagram is very elegant, unfortunatelly my skills in AE are very limited  ;D

as I always endend up with a first frame, that has light already shining (although in a very small area); I assume I have to combine the number animation with a fade in animation?
cheers

No real reason for the area light in this example.
Usually I use area lights when I want them to actually light the scene, and emissive for more subtle glows, like backlit buttons and such.
I actually tend to try both and see what works the best for in-product lights.

Yeah, I think that if you need no light at the beginning and everything lit up in the end, you need to use a color- or number-fade to control the intensity, while another controls the shift to make the light 'grow' in size.

Hope it makes sense.
