Hey guys. Im rendering a scene and for some reason I keep getting this weird separation between light and dark in my conical objects.

Im using a standard hdri enviro from keyshot.

Any way to fix this into a uniform smooth result?

Hey,

It's really hard to understand the cause based on this image alone...

1. Are you sure you have only one cone? Looks like two cones overlapping.
2. What kind of texture is being used for the orange/white stripes? Procedural or image-based?
3. What is the mapping type set to? Cylindrical (will have issues because of cone shape), UV (should work if model is set up for it)

I suspect this is just a seam and your texture is an image and has a slight gradient or dark edge. Looks like this is just a seam. I'd try rotating it so the seam is not facing the camera and see how it looks.

Hi Will,

Thank you for your time.

1- Yes, only one cone.
2- I'm importing the textured model from sketchup. Over at sketchup I just picked flat colors and applied to those polys.
3- Considering they are flat colors applied all over the model, does it even matter the mapping style?

I tried rotating the cone and it didnt fix it. However when I rotate the environment I can get rid of it actually.

Sorry for the late reply. Without looking at the file I can't confidently offer any help. I hope you found a workable solution.
