Create new model set from default but import only those object which are active

Hi Everyone, I am trying to create a new model set from the default one via python script and I want to add only those objects which are active in the default set. Currently, I can create a new model set and hide those objects that are unnecessary. Is there any way to delete those objects? or it is possible to create a model set using import options in order to fulfil my requirement?
