Thinking to purchase keyshot, if..

Can wood material be made so it has end grain? instead of wrapping the map around all sides of object.

Is there any software at all that can do this ??

You need to apply 2 different textures. One for the main surface and the other for the end grain. There needs to be 2 different colours on the model imported into KeyShot.

It is entirely possible to do wood;

This involved three separate scans but really easy.

Hope this helps.

Andrew-

Are you a tool maker?

Just wondering ... is there a software that can auto-map wood textures ?  That should be fun.

What we really need are procedural woods--all one would have to do is indicate grain direction and it would map beautifully without the hassles of positioning faces.

AND, a little birdie told me that such a solution is in someone's bag of tricks at the home office...

KeyShot

We do have procedural wood and many other procedural materials implemented in the KeyShot engine. To expose them we mainly need to figure out a good user interface. It will happen in the not-too-distant future.
