I agree, Tim.  What I did in the first image, which is not easy to see at this resolution, is "airbrush" dirt on the chassis parts.  On my final render I plan to do a much better (I hope) job of it, and also incorporate a lot of the suggestions you guys have made.

There gets to be a point where you could just keep messing with it and it doesn't get any better... I think you're almost there! Whenever you figure out your dirty textures, it will really set this thing off!
