Need to apply translation/move to multiple objects, is it possible to group objects so you can apply animation just once?

Yes, here's how...
from the project tree, expand the object that has the animation
right click on the animation and select copy
select or multi-select the objects to apply the animation to
right click and select paste animation

You have 2 option when you paste the animation - you can paste them with and without linking. When they are linked, you can make a change the to any of the animations, and all linked animations will update.
