A defined KS grid in meter or inches will help to scale materials while importing files with unknown scale. And a KS world axis (XYZ) will help to find the right position.

We are testing some new ways to work with the same scale as the original cad data. This would also allow a grid with a resolution defined in the space of the cad data. A 1 meter scale would be too large for many products (e.g. a cell phone), so we plan to make it a bit more flexible.
