making labels with paint.net

I have found that when making a transparent background for use in a label, that Paint.net needs to use the 32 bit setting witha PNG file
If you use AUTO or 24 bit or 8 bit you get a black background instead of transparent.  I have used it on a 32bit KS3 copy on XP & a 64bit copy on WIN7 , both work fine
