Yes, this is absolutely normal.  That's the realtime renderer doing its work.

If you don't want it to stay at full percent .. for example if you leave your computer to have lunch, you can set in the preferences a time limit for the realtime renderer.  Example 15 minutes, then if you don't change/use your computer, it'll stop rendering after 15minutes, then restart once you start work again.

If you really want to free up some CPU cores for other tasks while the realtime renderer is working, this can be done through Task Manager in Windows (7/8, maybe XP too).

You can right-click the KeyShot.exe process and then 'Set Affinity...' to assign any number of cores you have for this process. If you have a quad core CPU and set the affinity to 2 cores, you get a max. CPU load of 50% for the KeyShot.exe process. This doesn't mean that these cores will be solely used for KeyShot rendering. KeyShot just won't utilize any other cores than those with affinity.

Beware, this affinity only lasts as long as that particular KeyShot instance is alive. If you kill the process (exit KeyShot) and later restart it, you'll have to re-set affinity...
