ask from ignorance,
Can you see a VR on an iPad?
How? :P

would be very comfortable

Hi stylusrip. I can't vouch for them working on iPads (I'm a confirmed Applesceptic) but they work fine on my Android phone and my boss's Android tablet. Anything HTML5 compatible should be able to run them.

Yes - you can. In KeyShot 4.1 we also added support for iBooks.

Stylusrip

Thomas, is there any tutorial?

guest84672

No need for a tutorial. When you render out a KeyShotVR, go to render settings for KeyShotVR, look for the Output section, and check "Create iBook widget". This creates the widget that you then take an put into iBooks using iBook author.

cool trying one now. Will this also work on iPhone since it is also winning iBooks?

guest84672

Honestly I'm not sure. Try it.

I wasn't able to view an iBook that I had created with a VR in it on my 4S.  I may have missed a setting though in iBooksAuthor.

Is there a possibility for KeyShot, in the future, to export a plain epub3.0 that's just the VR?  Like most CAD jockeys I have a Windows box at work, so I can't run iBooksAuthor there. I also can't distribute an ibooks file to people that use tablets other than iPads.

We can certainly look into this. We are looking into other ways of showing off the VR without the need of an internet connection. PDF or 3DPDF don't allow you to embed the VR unfortunately.

Stylusrip

Hi again,

to view it on an iPad, should we copy the entire folder with all its contents respecting all the folder structure. wdgt file?
which are really the steps to be followed to move from PC to Ipad?

mgrant

You need to insert the wdgt file into an iBooks file using iBooksAuthor.  Unfortunately, that software is Mac only.
I don't believe there's any method for going from PC to iPad.

Stylusrip

wow, only Mac  :-\ ,  that's a big limitation    :'(

Hi, im currently rendering up hundreds of VR files for use on our company new website. if people would like to view them on ipad/iphone will i need to create these ibooks widgets?

can i use this file for everything or do i have to create a separate VR file for viewing on non apple products?

i use windows. can i upload this file onto our new web pages without using the ibooks author?

Cheers.

mgrant

The widgets are just for creating iBooks books, if you are placing the VRs on a webserver the iPad should be able to render them without a problem.

isucollateral

so im panicking over nothing haha, am i correct in saying that my VR files on the new website will be viewable on ipads?

Cheers.
