I love 3d Fractals generation. I would like to know how this fractal was converted to an OBJ file? (see link!)

https://www.keyshot.com/keyshot-pi-day-fractal-download/2013/

KeyShot

It is not an obj file. It is a mathematical object within KeyShot represented only by an equation.

Is this Fractal material still available for download? Can't find a link to it on your website.

KeyShot

The link on the webpage indeed seems broken. I have attached the fractal314.bip file.

Thanks! I'll give this a look.

Well that tweaks my interest even more. Do you care to share what type of formulas are compliant with KS?
As you know there a several Fractal programs on the market. One of the best free ones is Mandelbuld3d
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=downloads;PHPSESSID=79e1c2ec50f431c01b78a9200db773f8

In fact there is a discussion there about How Mandelbuld3d can produce a 3d Voxel fractal output which then can be converted
into a huge or smaller OBJ file, with additional Freeware software.

KeyShot

KeyShot uses the formula for Julia fractals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_set), and it is the 4D version based on quaternions rather than complex numbers.

I wonder what surprise Luxion has in store for us on March 14 this year. :)

2 days have past and nothing had happened :)

However I would like to know how to enter a Fractal Formula info KS ?

Question to Keyshot

I have tried to replicate the translucent honey colors in the Fractal render. Which is really outstanding!
Somehow I always seem to fall short. I get far to much noise in my renders of this Fractal.
I'm hoping you have time for a short How to? :)

cheers!
