fluorescent tube

Hi guys were having some difficulty getting a realistic fluorescent tube effect. We can use an emissive texture which emits correctly but the object itself isn't looking right.

Anybody got any suggestions as to how we can make this work please? Would be really grateful for any advice.

We did wonder whether we should create multiple tubes, some for getting correct texture, some for the emissive effect... again, we haven't had too much success with this approach. :(

This kind of leads me onto another question/comment, as a stand alone renderer it seems a little poor that you can't layer textures.. Anyway hope someone out there can help.
