All part names are the same

I've noticed that when I open some old models all the part names in the scene tree are the same.
They appear to be same as the overall title of the assembly with an 'o' appended.
What might cause that?

What format was it saved in? Is this an old BIP perhaps?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes - it's an old BIP.
Probably January 2012 - ish. I can't be sure what version KS I would have used.
The odd thing is I can find both earlier and later BIPS where the individual part names have been retained.

I'm not too worried about it, just puzzled.
