Title: HDRI / Lighting For Complex Scene
Post by: 78finn on October 10, 2015, 01:51:23 AM
I'm about to start a render of a baby seat - I have attached an image of the upholstery only, but there will also be multiple blow molded / injection plastic materials (both shiney & rough) as well as metal parts etc.

I'm struggling to get my head around how to light a scene and what type of HDRI / lighting I will require?

Do you think the best possible outcome would be achieved by using multiple HDRI's and doing several renders, then post compositioning the shot in Photoshop?

I'm new to renders of this complexity, so any help would be very much appreciated. I'm after a highly professional shot...going after the best possible image I can achieve.

Hi 78finn

From what you describe I would guess that a single custom made HDRI should do.
Use the HDRI editor inside KeyShot to place your highlights where you want them.

An image of the entire model will enable more precise feedback and suggestions :)

Best,
