Title: Metal without any reflection
Post by: iromix on February 08, 2016, 01:19:26 AM
Hi,

How can I make material without reflection?
For example I have chrome polished  material and I don't want to have any reflection on it.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi iromix.

Polished chrome (and other shiny surfaces) are heavily defined of what they reflect.  Having no reflections will result in a total black material.

If you want your object to reflect the environment but not the other objects in the scene, I'll suggest you to do a render pass where you hide all the stuff you don't want reflected, and comp it together with e.g. photoshop.

Let me know of you need a clearer description of how this is done.

I think that this material type is e.g. a diffuse material with a soft gradient or an advanced material. As well you can play with metallic paint or anisotropy.

Give us a hint, what you've try to achieve
