Title: Figure Eight
Post by: Eric Summers on October 20, 2017, 03:00:13 PM
First off, I just want to say how awesome it is to see so many incredible renders for this competition! I've really enjoyed seeing what everybody can do with KeyShot, it really motivates me to push my skills further.

I wish I could've spent more time on an entry for the competition, but of course work has to come first! This started out as an attempt to model a figure eight mobius strip, but SolidWorks was not cooperating with me and I ended up liking the look of this better. The interior body is an emissive material and the outer body is cloudy plastic with some roughness to it. I can definitely see the cloudy plastic being useful for a lot of things!

Our rendering machine was free for a while so I put the square image on it and rendered it to 5,000 samples, just for the heck of it!

Nice! Love the abstract style. Cool use of cloudy plastics too!

Thanks guys! It was a lot of fun to model and render; I might have to come back to it when I have some time!
