Title: Animation Approach
Post by: KJGDesign on August 29, 2018, 04:56:49 PM
Hi Guys,
Can anyone offer some assistance or an approach further to my task below?

How would I go about animating a roll of aluminium foil, and rolling it out onto a floor such as the glue that is being laid in the below video? I only have keyshot to do this in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGvGDYKNRck

I haven't done it before but I'm thinking that if I use a strip on the floor of an intended path (with a material transitioning animation on it) and move a rotating cylinder over the floor quite close to the floor I can cover any material transition margin with this and have it appear as though it is rolling off the roll.
Am I on the right track? Does this sound plausible?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Please look at the attachment file,  i hope i can tell you.  you should make all animation for all part at the same time, then repeat at for step 2, then step3 ...

Hi Oner,
Thankyou so much for your response, much appreciated and sorry for the delay in my reponse.
I ended up achieving the foil strip movement with a number fade and a colour gradient shift change, utilising the B/W gradient as an opacity mask with dual flooring layers similar to the below.

I'd show a short render but I am now having render problems with Keyshot maintaining (error!) my file at the end of an 8hr render...Ahhhh
