Title: NR 8.1 weird stuff
Post by: ivanv on December 03, 2018, 01:06:23 PM
Hi, recently we've upgraded to 8.1 from v7, and I can say the performance is worse than it was with previous version.
First off all, we started getting a weird error in Monitor, one of our slaves' status is Failed. And it is not working, the only workaround is to restart the Master computer. But, then some other slave will go into Failed status as well.

Another thing we noticed, is Sending/Receiving speed is now way way slower than it was on v7. The scenes are 50-100MB on 1Gbps network, and basically nothing changed except for the Keyshot version.
Also, every once in a while, one of the slaves just dissapears from the list, (idle or in the middle of rendering) and everytime it goes back on, it has to receive the file again which again takes time.
I would very much like to go back to 7, but I don't think this is possible anymore?

Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend contacting support, so they can help figure out the performance issues you are seeing.

I am experiencing the same thing. Crazy slow. I have a 500mb scene file and a gigabit network and ssd hd on both devices and it takes for ever to archive job, then send, then receive, then preparing......., and finally it starts to render.  But another thing new in 8 slowing things down is that instead of simultaneously the job to all nodes at the same time as it has done since at least ver 5, it is now only sending it to one node at a time. Crazy. It is taking me over 15 minutes to "start" a 4 minute render! HELP!!

Just tried rendering the same file just on the main box without network rendering and it took 19 sec!  What the heck?! This is a killer to my workflow.
