Title: Strange speckles
Post by: Zola1972 on February 01, 2019, 08:42:31 AM
Hi Guys
I am completely new to KeyShot, I have a trail for Keyshot 8 and i am trying to produce a basic rendering if glass bottles with water on one of our anit-roll mats. The problem that I'm having (well one of them at least) is when i render with caustics enabled, I am getting speckling on the textured plastic parts.

Am I missing something obvious or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Yeah, you will experience this with caustics sometimes.
Either you need to let it render for more samples, or try to switch the rendering mode from product to interior. That might help.-

Echoing the tips from Esben.

Also, check the colors you are using for your materials, avoid using 100% white on the liquid color, the glass color, or any of the specular slots. It won't get rid of the 'fireflies' completely, but in my experience, helps keep them manageable.

Esben also has a great youtube tutorial on how to clean these up in post using photoshop, you can find it pretty easily with a search on Keyshot fireflies I'm sure.
