Title: Scandinavian Dining Chair - Render Weekly S2W5
Post by: Liam Martin on May 09, 2019, 02:19:08 AM
For this week's Render Weekly (ground reflections) I designed a dining chair. I used a concrete material from CGAxis and wood textures from Keyshot Cloud to make this scene. I'm looking into methods to create waves and creases in the leather. Bump doesn't seem to be the way to go so I'm trying it out with displacement as well - will post something in the materials category to share my experiences.

Whoa! Amazing job man! May I ask how you did the stitching on the seat? Did you model these in?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers! I made the stitching in Keyshot, used a stitch PNG and extruded it with displacement. Then had a label on top of it so I could change the colour of the stitch.

Yup, that's what I thought, thanks for the explanation! Again, great work! ;)

I think that first image is my favorite. Good job and nice exploration. Those wrinkles are hard... I think it is pretty much necessary to sculpt them in at some point.

Cheers! Yeah I agree with creases, better if you can model them in. Found a nice way to do it with displacement and the cellar node after posting these, gonna try it out with some more models to see how it works.
