Hey guys !
I am encountering a weird problem which I didn't find an answer to anywhere on this forum.
For some reason when I use a dielectric material the objects inside it turn black.
I tried upping the rays in the render settings but to no avail.
Some material colors are in fact slightly visible but in most cases it's just black as if there's a weird strong shadow that doesn't affect reflections over the inner objects.
Anyone knows why?
Thanks !
Have you got 'Global illumination' switched on...?

Thanks for the.reply,
looking at the render settings I see I have 1 in global illumination and I also tried upping it to 5 though I can't see any difference.
What happens when you switch your glass object's material from 'dielectric' to 'glass' (Two-sided checked)?
Dries
How much ray bounces do you have set up ? It might be too low ?

Global illumination is either on or off - checked or not checked - you can't put a number in there.
Check again.
It is in the "Settings" tab of the Project window.
Hey guys,
thanks so much for the replies !
I did need to turn on Global Illumination in the settings tab, for some reason I missed the advanced drop down menu and now it works.
Thanks for all the help !
