Title: Animating motion of a gas strut
Post by: cubicart on October 19, 2013, 01:54:12 PM
Does anyone know of a way to animate the motion of a gas strut in KS 4.2 ... one end fixed, and the other end moving with a changing pivot angle and cylinder translation? Works great in SolidWorks with flexible mates etc, but I'm having difficulty in KS.

Thanks

We don't have a flexible mates, collision detection etc in KeyShot. Right now this is a bit difficult to do. We are looking into adding support of animations from SW inside KeyShot.

I just finished animating this compressor with reciprocating motion.

It was a combination of translation of the con rod, plus rotation of the con rod, which used the crosshead as the helper point.

Once this was done, I separately mapped a translation of the piston.

However, because one cannot animate using paths, it had to be done one frame at a time.

I'm praying that KeyShot and Siemens can find a way to export animation from Solid Edge into KeyShot!
