Perhaps you are not familiar with the Wolfenstein video games. It's perfectly appropriate considering the source of these images. If he was just decorating his models with swastikas for the fun of it I'd agree with you but these are for a game set in an alternate history 1961 following the Nazi victory of the Second World War.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the Wolfenstein video games. It's perfectly appropriate considering the source of these images. If he was just decorating his models with swastikas for the fun of it I'd agree with you but these are for a game set in an alternate history 1961 following the Nazi victory of the Second World War.

I sort of agree, as I mentioned in another post.  And I accept DevMat's reply.  In a way, it's like building and painting a plastic model kit of a WWII Panzer tank, and putting swastika decals on it. Gnarly and nasty, but period and historically correct and in done in context. Still don't like the symbol, however.

It's analogous to using a hangman's noose in an image.  In America it's absolutely socially unacceptable due to the long history of lynching.  Historically correct perhaps, but frankly unacceptable. 

Ditto depicting an image of Allah. 

But I have to say, these are amazing works!

Amazing works indeed. Everything DevMatt posts is so good... I don't even have the words. It's all that good.

As far as the swastika symbol... Of course you don't like it (or rather what it stands for). Neither do I.  And of course it's unacceptable in day to day society but DevMatt's work is part of a fictional narrative. A person should be no more upset about the use of the symbol in the Wolfenstein game than they should it's use in "The Man in The High Castle" or "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Which is why Freedom of Speech is enshrined in our Constitution as the 1st Amendment, as in the most important of many. 

I may disagree with the symbol, but I'll fight to defend the use of it.
