Simply put I would like to render out a scene 16x20 inches to be used as a print (poster).
Can this be done>

Yes. 16" x 20" at 300dpi would be 4800 by 6400 pixels. Adjust your realtime window under the settings tab to 480 by 640, or 720 by 960 pixels, for example, or any resolution that maintains the 4 by 5 aspect ratio. Set up your scene, and then render at the desired size and dpi.

Will try, portrait orientation?

rtyer

Tried to adjust as mentioned, no matter now I try cannot do 480x640 can only do
640X480. Program keep changing the second number to give a landscape setup.
Even with locks  turned off.
Need to do as portrait, possible?
Or is only landscape and 1x1 possible?
Thank you

rtyer

Have tried all aspects, am I correct in assuming that unless I chose a 1x1 aspect, I cannot
do a orientation other than landscape.
Can work around it if true, just do not want to keep butting my head against the wall.
Thank you

Hi
have you try to uncheck Aspect and resolution before changing dimensions ?

rtyer

Yes, have tried everything.
If you could show me a window, as in your illustration that makes a portrait
size will persevere.
Hate to admit this but have been at this for hours.
Most of what I do is portrait, have been using 1x1 but certain problems have
arisen with clients.

Read size underneath you post image, this is a landscape

Ignore the presets.  Uncheck Lock Aspect.  Enter 480 in the left box and 640 in the right (or other sizes).  Check Lock Aspect.  Good to go.  Render to 4800 x 6000.  Note that when dropped into Photoshop it will show up as 72 dpi.  No matter- just > Resize Image Size (with Resample unchecked) and replace the 72 with 300.

No!
With totally new scene, aspect unchecked ,resolution unchecked  I can type the number on the left, KeyShot automaticly fills in the box on the right with its own number making it landscape.
If I type the number on the right, same thing.

The only way I can get something other than a landscape
is to select the 1x1 preset

Key shot will not allow me to type in my own second number otherwise

Truly seriously honest, have been at this for about 6 hours.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled program.
If landscape was the default and I had to work around it, could live with that.
Now.
Two people have told me it's possible.
What the hell am I doing wrong?

Read size underneath you post image, this is a landscape
it's the size of the screenshot ! not of the presets

Ok, apologies.
Now.
How do I make portrait render

rtyer

Step by step question.
1. In preferences, before starting, I have disabled adjust aspect ratio to backplate
2. Program opens to default scene.
I hit spacebar, Scene tab opens, I select settings.
3. I make sure that lock aspect, lock resolution are unchecked.
4. The scene I wish to start is 480 by 640.
I type 480 in box on left.
As I am writing this keyshot has changed the number
to 682 as soon as I type it in. The number on the right changes to 601. I go to the number on the right and type
640. Keyshot adjusts number on left to 682. If I over type
682 with 480 it immediately changes number to 682.

This is the stuff that puts you on the ledge.
