Playing around with the ABBE settings, internal culling and dispersion samples to try and find the 'fire' spot in the diamond, I can count four definite ones possibly 6 :)

Can somebody define "Internal Culling"?  I keep hearing all these big words now in KeyShot 6!
Thanks!!

Hi Bill, it's similar to the ground plane clipping the geometry. A lot of designers allow the gems to cut into the retaining pins used to hold the gems in situ, but don't trim or boolean the pins and stones resulting in the extra geometry being visible inside the gem, this of course in reality would never happen, so if you have a model that looks as if the gem stones have metal parts intruding into them, then you would use internal culling.

That particular ring didn't really need it as the pins had been trimmed to accommodate the stone, I still apply it though just in case i get two surfaces trying to occupy the same space, I don't know if it helps with those scenarios, but i never seem to get that tell tale sign of two materials fighting over each others space.

I like your render mate, but not seeing much fire though, although that could just be my eyes

ahhhh, thanks Martin, you learn something new every day! I guess I wouldn't know as Iv never rendered jewellery/stones.

Nice Image - the diamond looks great!
