we are trialling keyshot in the office with the aim of choosing one as our render of choice.

in our line of work we are office required to layout multiples of the same object in a scene
(example: supermarket shelving or POS stand). it is time consuming to apply the same textures and labels to 20 or 30 of the same products.while only short time users, we feel quite proficient in applying materials and labels etc. but we still cannot work out a simple way to "copy" an object and move it in a scene.

we have tried separating the model: Eg: model#1 = supermarket shelf  model#2 = object to be placed many times. using model#2 as "block" model. When we import model#2 it does not come in at the correct scale.

is there a command we have not found or a way of achieving this?

Try saving each module as its own BIP file, then create a new BIP file and import the pre prepared modules - make sure you have "merge with current scene" and "Same coordinates as previous object" on. Then just move the parts into position and away you go.

As far as workflow goes, using keyshot to accomplish this is definitely not the most efficient.
Is it possible to do the labels you need in another application?

My first choice here is to duplicate your object filling a shelf (or whatever POP you've got) directly in your 3D application after you've defined it's texture coordinates right in that application. Here's we use Rhino, but you can do that in most applications.
Then you just have to copy and paste the material, not the object, to finish the scene. In fact, if you plan correctly, and the objects are all on the same layer if they are the same, then you can apply all the "same" textures at once.

Which modeling software are you coming from? As far as I know Keyshot doesn't yet support instancing, if that's what you were inferring by saying "block". That would be nice though.

Andy - you are behind. With KeyShot 2.2, you can copy and paste an object right in the scene tree.
