how to? compression of a spring or an elastomer block

Hi Keyshot Users,

do you have any idea on the best way to animate the compression of a spring or an elastomer block?
Of course the deformed geometry could be obtained from a calculation software e.g. as stl-file.
But how to deal with them?
Do one need only non compressed and fully compressed geometry (start and end postion)? Or many steps between?

This is not possible with KeyShot (I'm pretty sure, but correct me if I'm wrong)
Which software solutions do you use? How to animate it depends a lot on that.

deformation geometry could be e.g. obtained from Ansys.
One  idea was to export e.g. 100 stl files, one for each step of compression and fade in/fade out these geometries one by one...
But this seems of course not to be the easiest approach... it has the advantage of realistic deformed geometries.
Could it work this way? Could one achieve a smooth animation?

You need a 3rd party app such as C4D, Blender, Maya, Max etc. Then you need to export your animation as Alembic Cache (*.abc) or a sequential OBJ where each frame is exported as OBJ. KeyShot 6 supports both sequential and alembic animations via scripting

What we REALY need is 1 axis scale animation ............. can't believe it's hard to implement and can't believe it is not in KS6.
