Anyone can help?

I have a scene that needs IES light but when I pluggd in the IES or any light, it will not show.

Please help.

Just checking the obvious first...Is the Multiplier value of the IES material set above zero?

Multiplier for IES is 20. I even tried 100 just now and still no light.

I changed it to point light, nothings still. :(

kendisan

oh man, lights went on when I set it into 1M multiplier.

phew. thank you!

bdesign

You're welcome. But...1 Million for the multiplier value? That seems extremely high! Is this scene modeled to real world scale? Modeling to scale has a great impact on lighting. Under Edit>Set Scene Units, what do you have it set to?

Eric

yes, real world setup.
Its set to feet.

is 1M okay in that setup?

It's not really a matter of whether 1M is "okay" or not, if it looks good, but something definitely seems off as far as scene scale goes. It sounds to me like your objects are scaled much larger than real-world size. Select your wall panel that is just behind the IES light, and check the Size (x,y,z) Feet under the Scene tab>Properties. What are the dimensions in feet? Here is a quick render with an 8x12 ft wall panel, a 6 ft tall cylinder, and an IES accent light with the Multiplier at the default of 1. Also, it looks as though your wall color is set to pure white (rgb 255,255,255). "Pure" white and "pure" black don't exist in reality. Ideally, for optimal realism in renders, you should use a maximum value of around rgb 230,230,230 (90%) for white, and around 2-8% for black.
