Files constantly corrupting!

Platform / OS: MAC OS X El Capitan V 10.11.3
KeyShot version: Keyshot 5 version 5.3.6
Plugin version: None / unsure.
Modeling system, including version Creo

Steps to take to reproduce the problem: File -> Save. & File-> Open.

I'm having this problem pretty frequently. Quite often I'll save a keyshot file, and then when reopening the file, I get the error "THIS IS NOT A VALID BIP FILE" and all my work is lost. There seems to be no pattern as to why this happens. Sometimes it corrupts. Sometimes it doesn't corrupt. It doesn't matter if I save to my local harddrive, or a network drive, either. I usually have to remember to save multiple copies of my work or run the risk of destroying everything. It's beyond frustrating.

Corrupt files appear to be missing the file's header information. For example, if I open a broken file in a HEX editor, the first 136,048 rows are all blank. There after, it's filled with what appears to be the file's data. If I go back and find the original file before it was corrupt, the first rows start out with header information like so:

The string of code after "icon" continues 21,500+ rows and then is followed by more  detailed information like so:

Is this a common problem?

Is there a fix?

I assume the lost data cannot be recovered.

I am also having this same problem with several of my files.  I'm on Mac OS 10.11.6
