Which one is the best for keyshot? I also want to use the processor in Zbrush and Photoshop.

i7 5820K
6 Cores / 12 Threads
Processor Base Frequency 3.30 GHz / Max Turbo Frequency 3.60 GHz

FPS (found on keyshot forum topics)
3.3  = 81.6 FPS
OC 4.0 = 95.0 FPS
OC 4.3 = 124.0 FPS
Another user:
3.3 = 96 FPS
OC 3.8 = 107 FPS
OC 4.3 = 120 FPS

i7 4770K
4 Cores / 8 Threads
Processor Base Frequency 3.50 GHz / Max Turbo Frequency   3.90 GHz

FPS (found on keyshot forum topics)
4.5 = 86fps
I don't know if this is true. Max Turbo for the processor is 3.9GHz and he got 4.5GHz, how is that possible?

I guess he wanted to say 3.5??

Hello pizzalover2,

I'm running the i7 5820k and been loving it so far. The first set of benchmark numbers look like mine and are from KeyShot 5. The 4.3 @ 124 FPS is an update using KeyShot 6. I would definitely recommend this processor over the 4770k as you have 4 more threads for KeyShot to use and can easily overclock it to 4.3. If you do plan on overclocking, I recommend water cooling. This is what I'm using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103181

Both of these processors are a few years old though, so there is most likely better alternatives out there. If you use KeyShot most of the time, I would go with as many processor cores/threads as you can fit in your budget.

Thanks for the replay.

I don't understand a thing, it says that the Max Turbo Frequency is 3.6, how you achieve to have 4.3? How is that possible?

I think I'll go with i7 6800K because it is quite new (Q2 2016) and the only problem I see is that is similar to your i7 5820K (beside it has 3,4 GHz instead of 3,3 GHz and turbo 3,8 GHz instead of 3,6 GHz) and it's more expensive that 5820K, I should go with the i7 6800K?

Can I overclock i7 6800K to 4.3 or more like you do because I don't understand the term of overclocking if it says that max is 3,8 GHz.
If you overclock your i7 5820K to 4.3, you don't kill the CPU?
I have water cooling on my i5 2400  :-[ That's why I'm planning to change the CPU and motherboard.

The turbo feature is good for a standard setup (air cooled with stock fan), I assume.  With alternative cooling options out there, users can crank out even more processor horsepower by overclocking instead. Every chip has their sweet spot and my maximum stable output was 4.3 GHz. I tested with 4.5 GHz but it just wasn't stable and warmer than what I wanted to run at.

Not sure which processor I would go with between the 5820K or 6800K. Looks like most users are overclocking the 6800K at around 4.4 ~ 4.5 and can handle more memory. Not bad but not a huge gain over the 5820K. I think you would be happy with either one and probably wouldn't see much difference if used them side by side.
