Hi all,
I tried my first animation. It took 11 hours to render out 38 frames of a 5 second clip and was not even half done. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I am using a new gaming PC.

Any advice would be great. Thanks

There are many variables in the equation.

For starters...
What kind of scene are you rendering?
What is the resolution?
What quality settings are you using?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

my scene contains a car and a default back plate. The animation output settings are Res 1920x1280, avi, everything under passes unchecked. In options I have samples 72, global illum 1, Ray bounces 10, pxel blur 1.5. I am using all 8 cores.

Thanks

I'm not sure that you need 72 samples, 24 may be plenty. I suggest you let your scene sit for a while and look at the number of samples until the image looks good. This may be a better approach to rendering higher quality images faster.

But in any case, there is no magic when it comes to rendering out animations. Each frame has to be calculated separately.

Thanks for your reply, will give that a shot. Regards,
