Difference Between Regions and Frames

Can someone give me an explanation between regions and frames? I feel like ever since I updated to KeyShot 6.3, my rendering times are abnormally long. 32 Cores, 1920x1080, 3,700 regions, 3698 frames and it took 242 hours to render? Does that seem right? Am I doing something wrong when setting up the animation?

Frames are divided into regions which are being rendered. We found an issue with the data being sent back from the slaves to the master which may cause a significant delay.
