I have way to little time to do some renderings just for fun outside of my daily business, but I got inspired by some recent posts here in forum to take a look into a very new field for me...
yet I am not ready yet for "the whole thing" so I start with some detail renderings...
here is the first of a series to come ...
the contribution of this amazing model goes to Rex Fu from GrabCAD  !
I would be interested to know what you all think ...

It's looking nice! I think some Depth of Field would be nice to keep our focus on the car and not the background. I think you could actually do without the smoke. Maybe push the contrast just a touch. Really nice though. Better than any car I've attempted.

I think the materials look great. The tessellation is a bit noticeable in some areas and seems floating a tad.

I wanted to add some fog as this is one of the things, I can never do in my normal day to day work. the product renders I normally do have to have an almost medical cleanliness to them. but I agree this attempt is still pretty pathetic and the image would do better without it ... !
I was not happy with it, but left it in there, as I did not find the time to further mess around with it... I hope to squeeze in some time to finalize the image next week ...
and I will try to knock down the background a bit, I think that is a good call !
(how could I forget rule number 1 !!! DOF !!! can't believe this ...!!)

also you are right Josh, yet what you think is the tessellation is in fact a mask that I shifted a bit to the side in PS.
I had an awkward gloom at the front end of the car , shifting the ambient mask a few pixels to the side covered that although knowing, when you zoom in you will notice that!

although knowing you guys are pro's I am still amazed how precisely and carefully you look at an image !
I am thankful for your comments !
cheers

I wouldn't say pathetic! Plus, if you're not experimenting and having fun with it, you're doing it wrong!
