I have been working with a scene containing translucent materials. These types of materials are more likely to produce fireflies, noise, hot pixels, (etc.) especially if materials are not calibrated properly. I completed several test renders and did not observe any artifacts. After refining the materials further, test renders started to reveal artifacts.

Using the region render I isolated the material that was producing artifacts and went to work tweaking it: enabling / disabling GI in material settings, enabling / disabling GI in lighting window, adjusting roughness, adjusting exposure, etc. None of these strategies worked and the fireflies would not disappear. Keep in mind, none of these adjustments are being saved to the project file, which is what makes this next part particularly mind-boggling.

Frustrated, I closed Keyshot, reopend Keyshot, and suddenly the fireflies were reduced (?) I then restarted my computer, reopened Keyshot, and the fireflies were completely gone.

How do you explain this?

Platform / OS: Windows 10
KeyShot version: 7.3.40
