I do a lot of re-organizing in my scenes, as most of my CAD files come in with zero hierarchy. Could we dispense with the extra window interface when dealing with creating new groups? Just seems unneeded, when you could be able to just hit a keyboard shortcut (SHIFT+ALT+G maybe) to create a new group in the scene tree, either at the top or above what object is selected. With the added ability to rename stuff directly in the scene tree and not have to go into the properties tab below, that would allow you to create and name a new group with no mouse clicks (or a right click into the contextual menu) then start dropping things into it.

In the current new group dialog the create new group button is greyed out until I click on the model set in the window. I think to streamline the user experience some assumptions need to be made, and one is that I would actually want the group to be created, so just go ahead and pre-select the top level group/model set so I can create it without any extraneous mouse clicks.

Granted this a seemingly minor ask, but would greatly speed up the pain of having to organize objects before I start creating all my model sets, studios and stuff. Would be fantastic to be able to shift+Drag to select parts, hit a keyboard shortcut, have the parts plopped into a group and have the group name highlighted to I can just immediately start typing the name.

Seemingly easy things are usually a pain for programmers and coders, or so my smarter-than-me friends tell me. Bravo to all the magic makers that go into making this stuff all work!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have documented them and will consider for KeyShot 9.

+1 agreed for making grouping simpler
