I have been looking for a way to replicate diamond glints in my turn table renders. I have included an example:

http://www.jamesallen.com/3hd-player.html

I have photoshop and after effects to do my post work in. I have tried the Star Glow filter by trap glow as well as the boris FX filters in after effects and have gotten some nice results with both, but I haven't been able to achieve a glint effect similar to the one in this provided example. Anyone know how to achieve this effect?

(Also I have seen this thread here before so please do not redirect me to this link):

I saw that product before but I wasn't sure if that is what they used to get the effect. Thank you  :)

Zander85 - If you get Optical Flares going in AE, please post your video.  I'd also like to see how well it works in a jewelry video application.

But you can get a nice diamond interior sparkle in the animation directly from KeyShot if you use a good high-contrast HDR and maybe adjust the dispersion setting in the diamond material.  The extra glint (sparkle beyond the boundaries of the diamond) is of course coming from an additional effect in AE.  Again, I'm curious if Optical Flares will do that automatically in AE, or if you would need to set up Optical Flares to track the moving diamond.

Also, you can always adjust the ABBE number to get more sparkle. Lower it significantly.

Great ideas everybody. I have already lowered the abbe number significantly which has helped get color in the diamonds and make them look a bit more sparkly. I have emailed the company that makes optical flares (Red Giant) and asked if they sold a product that would get me a similar effect to the example (the james allen website). And they emailed me back telling me that they did not have a product that would get me an effect similar to that of the james allen website.

I am gonna try and download a trial of the trap code optical flare and see if it helps sell the image. I will post results as soon as I get it working.

Sorry when I said I emailed "Red GianT" I meant to say "Video Copilot". In fact I have emailed both companies and they both said they did not have a product that would recreate the effect on the james allen website.

Okay, so I gave the Video Copilot Optical Flares plug-in a shot and tried to add a subtle burst of light. I think it works decent, I need to play with it more. And I need to re-render my rings so they are not so washed out so you can see the effect better. I also used the Star Glow filter plug-in by Trap Code but the effect is extremely subtle. I used the trial that is why there is a red "X" over my avi. I also used the Curve Editor plug-in and crammed the pixel information and that is why I have a few artifacts in the video as well.
