Modeled by Mike Maynard in MoI.  Wire grill geometry made with MoI flow command.  Mike has some great free model tutorials at http://k4icy.50webs.com/tutorials.html

I just assigned my materials and labels, and let it cook a few minutes.

Super. How many polygons does this model have, out of curiosity?

Ed

2,086,780 triangles according to the heads-up display.

Very cool for sure. Ed is the mesh modeled or did you do some kind of alpha on the material to get that result ?

Mike Maynard made the model in MoI and documented a tutorial.  The wire grill is NURBS geometry, not a alpha material.  It was made by deforming a flat wire mesh with the MoI flow command.  I just assigned a standard KeyShot metal material and let it render a few minutes.  Saved as a screen shot.

Thanks Ed for the info.
I feel like a dink. If I would've read your original post I would know the mesh was modeled...lol

I knowthere is GRID MODELER for VUE  and LIGHTWAVE,

http://www.altuit.com/webs/vuetoolbar/GridModelerCover/default.htm

but in Keyshot 3 you will be able to have alpha mask in material transparency, so...

Maybe you can find some "grid maps" on the website to create your own in K3 ?... :-)

I think you can get very close with a bump and opacity map in KS 3 - would be very good to do a comparison.
