I scratch built the cad (nurbs) based off a 1971 Porsche 911T engine. Most of the internals are there too.

piston/rod assembly

some of the internals

one of the cylinder heads, thankfully all 6 are identical

flywheel side with the shroud hidden to show some detail

and a few other views

Optimusglen,
Kudos on the modeling. Did you by chance tear down the engine to get all the details?

Optimusglen

Yes, I disassembled the engine and modeled each part individually taking measurements as I went.

Welcome! This is absolutely impressive. Well done on the modeling and the rendering. Would love to see more detail shots!

This is a painstakingly impressive job! truly amazing!

Optimusglen

Thanks all, I've been meaning to revisit these. I've grown a bit in my material and lighting since I made the last images. I'll try and get some more detail shots.

I've always wanted to try to model an engine - this is definitely impressive as hell.

I had some time to make some progress on materials. Hope you guys like it.
