Why is render preview vastly different from render output?

Lately, I've been running into an issue where the render preview is vastly different from the render output. The preview typically looks "wetter" and the output looks "dry." I've attached an example of the issue I'm running into. Notice in the preview window, the image material is like wet mud compared to the output, which looks more like gravel or sandpaper.

The preview window is not on Performance Mode, and the render output is at maximum samples of 300, which is way more than enough for the opaque material used. Shadow quality is at the maximum of 5, with ray bounces at 16, and render setting on Photographic Mode.

Anyone else run into this issue before and can offer a solution?


I guess that you used an occlusion texture in the material or something else where a parameter is sized in pixels. If yes, try to use the scene units.
Or just for a test. Let the live render run some time in a defined resolution and then render the same size. Does it match?
