Did this yesterday for a speed challenge at the Danish 3d-forum 3dmaxer.dk. The subject was things that poke and there was a total time limit of 3 hours.

My time use:
Modelling (3ds max): 40m
Texture (photoshop/keyshot): 1h
Render (keyshot): 1h
Post (photoshop): 10m
TOTAL: 2h 50m

I've got some problems with the shadow around the pots. It's not very smooth. The pots are "snapped to ground". If I lower them, they will be beneath ground plane, and if I raise them, they float. The render is a 1hour realtime render. Is it possible to fix it?

Best regards
Esben :)

It looks like your pots are slightly tilted. You may have to move them manually. And then increase the shadow quality if needed.

The camera was tilted, but not the pots. I think it's the shadow that makes it look like it.
I have increased shadow quality to max, 5, and it helped, although it's still not perfect.

The textures and color is great. Good call on the shadow quality. I think an outdoor environment would really make this look brilliant.

Change the cola length to 75 - 100. This will help, too.

Esben Oxholm

@Thomas: I'm not sure where to find the cola length? A look in the manual and a google search didn't help me :/

cola - lol - damn autocorrection - I meant focal.

Haha, I also thought that cola length didn't make any sense  ;D

I see that changing the focal length helps, but then I loose some of the depth perception. I like the view more wide angled.
How come the shadow quality is depended on focal length?

guest84672

That shouldn't be the case.
