Titanium ring with wave design anodized blue.  Modeled in MoI.

The top image has a background image applied to a plane behind the ring.

The background plane in the bottom image has a nickel material applied with the roughness turned up.  This gives a diffused reflection of the water splash object.  The same background image from image #1 is used as a texture, and an image of water is used for a bump map.  The "Blend with color" on the material is adjusted for a blue result.  The net result is a secondary water splash of smaller droplets.  No Photoshop to get this result - all done in KeyShot.

Hey Ed,

I would try to get more gradient shading on the ring using HDR editor (or any other metod), espetialy on the inner parts of the ring. It's a simple shape so work on the lighthing a bit more, what you want to get is a few places/edges that have those burnt highlights, it will help you sell that the ring is made of metal. Fluid looks like it was calculated without any gravity applied to the scene so it miss the directional stretch you would get from the fluid in motion, its too uniform. Hope this will help and thank you once again for your comment. :)

All the best,
Voya
