Is the first time that I have a very serious bug with Keyshot.

It is impossible for me to open my file after the crash ...

5 hours of lost work.

Description: File 42.8 MB

duplication of assembly - moving the assembly - crash

I tried to open it, or import it, but nothing will.

What should I do? cry?

Thank you in advance.

Antoine

Morten Kristensen

Can you reproduce the bug?
Also, is it possible for you to attach the BIP file?

fario

yes, the crash is reproduced every time.

I can send you the file, but it's top secret.

Antoine

Morten Kristensen

Okay, then tell me in detail how you reproduce the bug.

If you can send the file then it would be easier to see if something goes wrong and I can debug it myself. Other than that you'd have to give me more information as to how you get the crash.

fario

Hello and thank you for your reply.

is that the log file, the crash is useful to you?

the log file is attached.

Antoine

Morten Kristensen

The log file gave me some ideas but it is still too vague, unfortunately. I need your BIP file and I would like you to be very precise in how to reproduce the bug?

So how did you do it?

fario

I think I found it.  ???

If I use the round function of Keyshot this crash when I make a duplicate of the assembly and movement of it.

I'm sorry, but I can not send you my file is confidential.

Antoine

Morten Kristensen

Unfortunately that does not yield an error here with any model I have. The code is not directly linked either.

Let's try something else. Create a new BIP from some model and make it crash like this BIP does. Then tell me how you did it and send me that file instead.

Thanks.

obj import assembly. watch.
Croco import obj. this model is very, very detailed look crocodile.
scaling the crocodile leather strap.
placement of the strap on the watch. in orthographic mode.
rounded parts of the watch. approx value: 0.06 - Units: mm
(no rounding on croco strap)
duplication of the entire assembly (1) several times.
displacement of the assembly (2) with the tool displacement and arrows.
---> Crash

impossible to re-open the file.

Antoine

Morten Kristensen

Thanks for the description. However, it doesn't make my scene crash.
Let's try something else:

  • Open KeyShot
  • In the menu click View and then Log...
  • Now open your BIP file with errors and observe if any entries appear in the log. Click Save to file and send that file to me.

Also try to watch the log while creating the BIP file from scratch to reproduce the bug.

fario

QuoteNow open your BIP file with errors and observe if any entries appear in the log.

hum...

I can not do what you ask me, because the file. beep crash when I try to open ...

I also tried to open the log window, and work together on another file.

Unfortunately, there is no information that appears in this window ... even after adjusting the level: information in the preferences.

I really think that the crash comes from the use of the function: rounded, with me.

Morten Kristensen

This is very weird behavior. And I understand you can't share the original BIP file.

Try reproducing the crash with another model that you can share with me, send that to me instead. Ok?

Hi Antoine,
It seems there is a bug of some kind in the 'round' feature, confirmed by Keyshot in the final post on this thread - see below.
They have promised a fix in a forthcoming update.
For the moment, I am steering clear of the 'round' feature....  :(

Thanks for pointing it out, jhiker.

Antoine, unfortunately, you have to wait for the next update to get the fix for this. If you can avoid using the rounding function then you should be fine.
