I just can't figure out (for days now) why curves, rounds, arcs or basically anything that is not straight does not render smoothly. I am getting these jagged edges, even if I just do a simple fillet. I have been reading up but just can't get the answer.

I am using AutoCad 2013 for Mac and Keyshot 4. Can anybody help me please? I attached a rendering -> see the edges on frame are not smooth but rather shaped. Everything looks good in AutoCAD but once rendered in Keyshot it looks like the attached  >:(

Thank you!

I think it's something to do with the model resolution and the 'smoothness' of the curves. Search for 'facets', or something similar.

I don't know how to increase the tessellation in AutoCAD, or whether you even can.

opb007

Thanks for the reply! Before I generated this rendering I already went through increasing tesselation, viewres and FACETRES to maximum numbers, which actually made "0" difference in the KS rendering, but it looks fine in Autocad. I am wondering if this might be a bug in KS?

I attached a basic cylinder that also renders jaggedy in KS, see attached. Could somebody see if you get the same results when you render it in KS?

Could anybody maybe send me a regular 3D autocad file with a basic cylinder in it and where you know it renders just find on your machine, that way I could try to render that on my computer and find out if this is actually a setting in my files or where the issue is. I would really appreciate it.

Sorry for asking for so much and thanks for your input, I will keep on trying....  8)

Did anybody ever get a solution for this issue. I am still having the same problem.

:-(

KeyShot

It looks like the models are missing the normal information. One way you can work around the issue is by exporting the model from KeyShot as an obj file and then re-importing it with calculation of normals enabled. We will look into other ways of working around this issue.

Thank you! Is there a way for me the get the normals setup correctly in the first place in autocad? I am not really sure what normals are.

Any help is appreciated.

I also have another standard file where I just drew a simple hemisphere, I converted it to "smooth surface" - see attached.
Facetres:3
Viewres: 1000

I have the same issues with this or any other file I created on any curved surface.

Use Sketchup. Its simpler, faster and works

I'm new to keyshot and downloaded the demo and i really like it. However i have the same problem, jagged edges on curved objects. I tried chaging settings like viewres, surftab1 and 2, facetres etc. It doesn't seem to help. Is there a solution yet for this problem ?

well, i guess it is a problem with the ODA libraries, maybe becomming a member of ODA can help.
