Solidworks Live linking crash/waiting

Hi

Just trying out the live linking with solidworks but can't get it working. I have enabled the feature in keyshot, installed the plugin from the website but all i get when I click update is 'waiting for connection' in solidworks.  it eventually locks up white screening even if I cancel the import in keyshot.
I found that it also seems to crash the solidworks enterprise vault (where the files are stored) and has to be restarted.  I tried saving them locally and it still won't update then.  Solidworks 2013 sp2 and keyshot 4.1 pro

any thoughts? how to troubleshoot?
