How to speed up preview? Reduce quality?

Is there any way to reduce the real-time preview quality? I'm getting some significant lag at the moment, and I don't need to see the full-quality preview when I'm just playing with materials and rotating the model around.

Use "ALT+P" to enter performance mode. Or access it through the settings tab in the project window.
