Hi folks, At some point last year i did an iWatch concept (which turned out to be pretty similar to apple watch revealed last week) to go with the watch i designed this... Its basically a simple bluetooth 4 wireless audio thingy, to which you can attach your favourite, prized headphones. Its just an alternative to talking down your sleeve like Dick Tracey.

Thanks
Ed

Hope you took some royalties  ;)
A nice and solid render there Ed-

Ha, that'll be the day. Na, I'm destined to be broke for life

mjb

Ha! Join the club matey  :D
So..I'd be quite interested to see your watch compared with the actual apple watch  :)

edwardo

Sure, ill post it soon. I racked my brains trying to do a 'sports' strap that wasn't a complete rip-off of Marc Newson's ikepod watches. I was blown away to see that Apple did just that!

Great render Ed, I particularly like the anisotropic brushed look you've given to the button

thanks Jon. Its funny, on the full res render the anisotropic effect looked terrible - has totally benefited from being shrunk down. FYI it was done entirely with a normal map.

Chad Holton

I like it!  :D Cable could use a little more flex.

I really like the aluminum body. Looks like macbook's body.
Could u upload the material to KS Cloud?

Bronson

edwardo

Im not sure if i can upload (i did this before the cloud appeared) but it is easy to build from scratch, i'll open the file and post the settings shortly. I do remember that it was a metallic paint shader.

On that note, i did intend (a while ago) to post all the iAluminium colours as best as i could replicate them. I also mean to post a decent shader for the opaque lego bricks colours available.

@ Chad. Thanks man, the cable is actually pretty flexy (only 2 or 3 mm diameter). Its just that you can't see it in this shot. The product itself is actually tiny

Hi, somebody was asking for the material settings for apples aluminium......

If I plug those numbers in with the model scene set to the default 'mm' I get the 'grainy/speckle' finish - nothing like yours.

If I change the model scene units to 'm' I get the 'smoother' finish - which is closer

Do ALL Keyshot materials require some kind of default setting?
What is  the default setting?

edwardo

Sorry about that hiker. I guess its something to do with scale (of model vs KS units). I would think the 'metal coverage' and 'metal flake size' sliders would be the ones to play with.
