i'm trying to create an image with an excavator, and create the effect of sand falling out of the as it is picking sand up.. i only have the designed excavator bucket, but need to create the rest.. Any advice on how i can achieve this.

Do you want to make an animation or a still image?
what is "the rest" that you need to create?
Any advice on how to achieve "what"?

Yeah sorry, it was not very clear.
Basically the image i attached is what i want to achieve, not very clear, but i want to fill the excavator bucket with sand and at the same time the effect of sand falling out of it as it is picking it up.. If anyone has any tips or advice on how to achieve this effect and make it look realistic?

Ok. Cool.
There are several ways of doing it as I see it. What you choose depends on preferences.

1. Model the sand and animate the falling sand, using some kind of particle stuff if your modeling software supports it.
2. Model the sand in the bucket only and photoshop in the falling sand.
3. Photoshop in all the sand.

To me none of the above is correct or wrong. It's the results that counts.
Choose the method that fits you the best.

I'm happy to help you with some photoshop stuff if needed.
