Hi everbody,

I am really struggling with the material templates.
My company has many similar products which only partly differentiate from each other so material templates would be perfect to allocate like 90% of all material with one click.
Though, it is not really working on my end.

If I add an automatic material template based on parts, there will be many parts missing. They just do not appear. If I add them manually, it works superb.
The same happens with templates based on materials which is another big problem as the same part in different cad models have a different original material name so an allocation via material is almost impossible.

Manual templates would be a way out but our products have way more than 100 different parts and creating the templates would probably take more time instead of just adding the same material to the same part again and again.

Do you have any idea what the problem could be here?
I am on Keyshot 10.

Hello - I am beginning to work with AR files and projects to add to our website. Having the ability to export animations with a .glb file would be amazing! Simple things like exploding a part assembly, making a light blink, etc. I want to create AR installation and repair instructions, for one.

Hey cmurray,

I am afraid that with you being on KeyShot 6.3 there is indeed not a lot we can do to resolve the bug fo you.
There have been a lot of changes related  to the sceneunit, geometryscaling and Texture scaling since that version.

In KeyShot 6 we added the Scene size information.
So if you in the Scenes tab of the Project window select the top group, and check the Part Properties, you should be able to see its extends.Make sure those values match your expectations. An incorrect scene scale could explain your issues.

But keep in mind that KeyShot 6 still uses the old Texture mapping so there might simply be technical limitations.
Starting from KeyShot 7, a new texture mapping is used, which is more Unit aware and might resolve this issue.

So there is a good chance a Newer version of KeyShot resolves your issues.

Hi, Ivan here,
First time posting.
I work on huge model (industrial size) and I have problem with moving camera, jumpy and hard to be precise, or selecting items for rotation, large number of parts in model etc.
I am importing model from Siemens NX using NX addon.
Question is how exactly NX addon works, can I import just particular, needed, items in to Keyshot, make animation and then update model to full with NX addon before rendering? Is there a way to simplify model for creating animation and to change it to full for rendering?
Maybe simplified model set in Keyshot for animation setup then default one for rendering, will that work (how to make it work)?

Changed the scene slightly ... added a spotlight for dramatic lighting, still some very dark HDRI lighting for overall brightness of the scene.

Also added a magnifying glass to highlight some of the small parts.

The extra DOF brings the scene really to live ...

SO, I took the last suggestion Will gave out and gave the render one more go on both materials. I desaturated the SSS color by about 70% and backed of the translucency value by about 30%. Here is the end result with a translucent and a translucent medium render.
