Does this look like a real cast iron?

Esben Oxholm

I think it is definitely in the right direction.
Did you create the material using a reference image? Might help to achieve a more precise look.

Material was created with some hint about metallic paint on the forum, then try and guess method.
The point was to create cast iron part to clamp it in the chuck.
Oh, and because I work on production plant I have many examples of steel parts.
That's an extra job for marketing purposes.

Anyone interested in material - I've attached it - Keyshot v5.3
Values to play:
Properties -> Metal Roughness
Properties -> Samples
Textures -> Scale
Textures -> Fall-off (here's 1.6, 1.2 looks little more better)

In cast iron workpiece it's important to use inside/outside radius on all edges!

I've played with an anisotropic material. You can control the roughness via material graph. For details look into the attached .ksp-file.

Good examples so far!
