Problem with labels using transparency

Hello,
I am using KS 7.2.1 on OS Sierra 10.12.6. When I have tried to bring in a label as a png that has a gradation of white or a color going to clear the result is a solid gray. I sent in an example to the tech and he said it was an issue. Has any work been done to alleviate this problem?
